The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed it has received an additional GHS 35 million from the government, part of the GHS 118 million owed to the council.
This brings the total payment to GHS 60 million, leaving an outstanding balance of GHS 58 million.
The additional payment has been welcomed by WAEC, which has committed to finalizing and releasing the 2024 WASSCE results before the end of the year.
WAEC has assured that all pending issues will be addressed to ensure the timely release of the results within five days of the year’s end.

The council’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr. John Kapi, has also confirmed the receipt of the GHS 35 million and highlighted WAEC’s dedication to releasing the results promptly.
The council has also urged the government to settle the remaining GHS 58 million arrears owed to WAEC before leaving office to ensure a smooth transition to the incoming administration.

In a related development, KNUST has announced that it will reopen school for continuing students on January 11, 2025, with international students expected to report on January 4, 2025.
However, the release of the 2024 WASSCE results will provide clarity for prospective students seeking admissions into the university and other tertiary institutions.
