In a move aimed at reinforcing academic integrity and ethical standards, the University of Ghana’s Office of the Registrar has publicly released the names of individuals sanctioned for misconduct, following a recent decision by the Academic Board.
A total of 16 students have been penalized for offenses including plagiarism, falsification of documents, inter-hall conflicts, and drug possession.
Among these cases, a particularly disturbing incident involves a lecturer who has been sanctioned for sexual misconduct.
The lecturer in question, Dr. Sampson Obed Appiah, according to the university, engaged in sexual harassment contrary to Section 1.1(A) of the Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Policy and Code of Conduct of Academic Staff.

Additionally, he is required to undergo training on sexual harassment and misconduct, which will be conducted by the University’s Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee.
While the university’s disciplinary actions target a wide range of violations, the inclusion of the lecturer’s case highlights the institution’s commitment to upholding a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and misconduct.
The Office of the Registrar has assured the university community that appropriate actions have been taken in all cases, emphasizing the importance of maintaining both academic and ethical integrity.
Students, staff, and faculty are urged to continue upholding the core values of respect, fairness, and responsibility that define the University of Ghana.
