The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has refuted allegations circulating on social media that student grades on its Online Student Information System (OSIS) have been altered.
In a letter addressed to the Principals of affiliated Colleges of Education, Prof. Samuel O. Bekoe, Director of the Institute for Teacher Education and Continuing Professional Development (ITECPD) at UEW, assured the public that “student academic records are securely maintained, and the integrity of our Online Student Information System (OSIS) remains intact and uncompromised.”
The statement, dated January 4, 2025, comes in response to reports claiming that students’ grades have been inexplicably changed from higher marks like ‘A’ or ‘I’ to lower grades such as ‘C’, ‘E’, or even ‘IC’ (Incomplete).
According to the letter, “A thorough system audit has confirmed that all student records remain accurate and unaltered.”

Prof. Bekoe urged students encountering difficulties accessing their results to contact their Vice-Principals and Assessment Officers, who hold official records and are authorized to assist in retrieving authentic results.
He emphasized that any necessary grade corrections must adhere to the official procedures.
The statement also highlighted the rigorous validation process that examination results undergo before final approval.
“The Vice-Principals and Assessment Officers, who serve on the ITECPD Advisory Board Sub-Committee on Examinations, review and verify examination results before they receive final approval by the Advisory Board which is made up of the Principals of the affiliated Colleges of Education. Given these measures, unauthorized changes to student results are not possible,” Prof. Bekoe explained.

UEW reiterated its commitment to maintaining a secure student information system, stating that the system undergoes regular updates to enhance security and preserve the integrity of all academic records.
“We appreciate your trust and cooperation,” concluded Prof. Bekoe in the letter.
The university also encouraged stakeholders to rely only on official channels for information regarding student academic records and to dispel any misinformation circulating online.
