The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has pledged to swiftly address outstanding issues affecting the graduation of distance education students.
The assurance was given at a meeting between university management and the Executives of the Distance Education Students Association (DESA) on Monday, May 6, 2024.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor of UEW, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual, emphasized the university’s determination to expedite the graduation process.

He highlighted the proposed plans for the second session of the 28th Congregation, scheduled for June 2024, pending approval from the Academic Board.
Prof. Mitchual stressed the seriousness of management in terms of result publication and congregation ceremonies.
Recognizing past challenges, Prof. Mitchual expressed determination to address underlying issues swiftly and ensure smoother processes in the future.

He assured the students that delays in examination results or publication would be a thing of the past, with a newfound dedication to efficiency.
The Vice-Chancellor urged cooperation and support from the students, advising them to advocate through appropriate channels instead of resorting to social media platforms.
He stressed the importance of responsible and visionary leadership, calling for ethical and value-driven actions among students.

In response, Mr. Worlanyo Afelhu, the DESA President, expressed gratitude for the university’s commitment to promptly resolving the issues.
He proposed the implementation of student evaluations for Coordinators and Lecturers at the end of each semester, aiming to enhance accountability and improve the overall educational experience.
The University Management responded positively to the student proposals.
