The proposed changes include:
• Integration of Licensure Exams: The licensure examinations will become part of the teacher training program, eliminating the need for a separate exam after graduation. This “Qualified Teacher Status” (QTS) will be awarded upon successful completion of the integrated exam.
• Additional Examination Window: The National Teaching Council will offer an additional examination window for individuals who fail to pass the licensure exam during their teacher education program. There will be no limit on the number of retake attempts.
• Improving Infrastructure and Resources: Dr. Bawumia also pledged to address infrastructure deficits in tertiary institutions, ensuring that all colleges have access to laboratories, ICT centers, and workshops.
• Expanding Medical School Infrastructure: He emphasized the importance of expanding medical school infrastructure to accommodate a greater number of medical students.
