In a move that has brought relief to many trainee nurses in Ghana, the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has disbursed three months’ allowance arrears to trainee nurses in the public nursing training colleges of education.
The disbursement, which was made on Tuesday, 28th March 2023, came as welcome news to the many trainees who have been struggling to make ends meet.
Trainees are urged to visit the bank, load their E-zwich cards and withdraw the funds as soon as possible. This will enable them to take care of their pressing financial needs, such as paying for transportation, buying textbooks and other study materials, and covering their living expenses.
Teacher Trainees
For teacher trainees in the 46 public colleges of education, the arrears owed in perspective is the GH¢400.00 owed to newly qualified teachers and GH¢600.00 owed to continuing students.
Payment of these arrears is crucial for many teacher trainees who are facing financial difficulties and rely on it to cover their basic needs.

The President of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), Dzunu Jonathan, has indicated that plans are far advanced for the payment of this said allowance owed to trainees. He has advised teacher trainees to keep their cards at a safer place and to wait for the “DEAR TRAINEES” message from SLTF.
The Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) is the main organization that champions the affairs of teacher trainees in Ghana.
The association relies solely on this allowance to be able to function well and speak up for the needs of trainee teachers across the country. Therefore ensuring that trainees receive their stipends from SLTF is dear to their hearts.
