In a statement released on February 21st, 2024, the Coalition of Unemployed Trained Teachers (CUTT) has addressed the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, and the Ghana Education Service, calling for the release of their financial clearances and the opening of the Ghana Education Service’s recruitment portal.

The CUTT, representing a group of educators who have completed the Four Year B.ED Programme in Colleges of Education, served their mandatory National Service, and passed licensure examinations, expressed deep concern over their current unemployment status.

Despite being equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to positively impact Ghana’s education sector, these trained teachers find themselves without job placements or clear guidance on when they can expect to be posted.

As the pioneers of the B.ED Programme and the Common Core Programme for Basic schools, the CUTT highlighted the irony of being left unemployed while being at the forefront of educational reforms in the country.
