The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has issued a plea to the Colleges of Education Teachers’ Association of Ghana (CETAG) for clarity and urgent action regarding their ongoing strike.
In a letter addressed to the President of CETAG, Mr. Prince Obeng-Himah on August 5, 2024, TTAG expressed their concern over the lack of updates and called for a reconsideration of the strike.
According to TTAG, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CETAG and the Government, signed on July 24, 2024, initially brought hope for the resumption of their academic activities.
However, the strike has continued without any clear communication from CETAG, leaving them in a state of uncertainty.
“The execution of the MOU on 24th July, 2024 was a hopeful development, indicating the resumption of our academic pursuits by 29th July, 2024.”

In their letter, TTAG emphasized the importance of formal communication and requested an explanation for the ongoing strike and any underlying reasons preventing CETAG from calling it off.
“In this regard, we kindly seek formal communication on your current stance concerning the ongoing strike and any underlying reasons that prevent you from calling off the strike.”
With the academic progress of teacher trainees at stake, TTAG urged CETAG to reconsider their position and return to the classroom.
“We implore you to reconsider your position during this pivotal period and return to the classroom”, TTAG added.
