The Parliament’s Committee on Education has expressed deep concern over the ongoing strike by the members of the College of Education Teachers Association (CETAG), calling for a meeting to address the impasse and its impact on tertiary education.
The strike, which began on June 14, 2024, stems from the government’s failure to implement and comply with the National Labour Commission’s directive.

Therefore, the Committee, responsible for overseeing all educational matters, has invited the National President of CETAG, Mr. Prince Obeng-Himah to a meeting on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 10:00 am.
The meeting will also be attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
According to the Committee, they aim to understand the issues at stake, explore the reasons for the stalled negotiations, and facilitate a resolution to the impasse.
