The National Service Scheme (NSS) has once again modified the commencement date for newly trained teachers who are ready to embark on their mandatory national service.

Initially, the service was set to begin on November 30, 2024, but the NSS has now rescheduled it to commence on March 18, 2024.

In a recently released appointment letter, the NSS stated, “Your period of national service starts from March 18, 2024 and ends on February 28, 2025. You will be entitled to one-month terminal leave, usually in the month of February.” This means that personnel will receive an allowance for the month of March.

The NSS is urging all personnel to print the new appointment letter and submit it to their respective agencies for endorsement.

The NSS has not provided any specific reasons behind the sudden modification of the commencement date.

This change may cause some inconvenience for the personnel who had already made arrangements based on the previous date.

However, the NSS assures that the shift will not affect the entirety of the national service period, concluding on the previously planned date of February 28, 2025.
