The management of Tumu College of Education has informed students about decisions made regarding the access to student hall of residence.

The notice, signed by Bukari Babia Abdulah, the Students Affairs Officer on behalf of the Principal, outlines several important points.

Firstly, the management has decided that students will only have access to residential facilities once they have fully paid their school fees.

This policy aims to ensure that no students are in debt to the college as they approach the end of the 2022/2023 academic year.

As part of this process, students who have made full payment of their school fees are required to submit evidence of the payment to their respective Hall Tutors.

The Hall Tutors, in turn, will validate the payment and allocate space to the students in the various halls of residence.

It is crucial to note that no student is permitted to live in any Hall of Residence without the explicit permission of the Hall Tutor.

This measure ensures that the college manages the occupancy effectively and prevents unauthorized entry.

The new policy also mandates that Hall Tutors are responsible for locking up the Halls of Residence and granting students access only upon validating their full payment of school fees.

This additional step reinforces the college’s commitment to resolving any outstanding fee issues before allowing students to reside in the halls.

The decision to implement this policy was made with the aim of ensuring streamlined operations and financial stability for the college.

Reports indicate that a significant number of level 400 students are currently in debt to the college, leading to the need for a comprehensive approach to recover these outstanding fees.

It has also come to the attention of the Coleman Publications that other colleges have implemented similar measures to ensure students meet their financial obligations for the smooth functioning of the institutions.

While the management’s decision is rooted in the college’s financial well-being, some trainees have expressed their concerns and appealed for a reconsideration.

These students are requesting the management to allow them entry into the hall of residence, reassuring they will promptly settle their dues.
