Newly Recruited Teachers Demand Immediate Payment of Salaries and issuance of Staff IDs

The Newly posted teachers from the 2022 College of Education graduating class has submitted a formal letter to the Director General of the Ghana Education Service, expressing their frustration over delayed salaries and the issuance of staff IDs.

The teachers, who have been at their posts for the past three months, highlighted the financial hardship they faced due to the non-payment of their salaries.

They described the difficulties in covering essential expenses such as rent, food, and transportation, emphasizing their commitment to delivering quality education despite their struggles.

In their letter, they stated, “We have dedicated ourselves to teaching with passion, but the absence of payment of salaries has derailed us.”

They expressed concern that they might be forced to leave their posts if the situation does not improve, as they are unable to sustain themselves financially.

“If this continues beyond this month we might be left with no other option than to vacate our places of work to go and look for money somewhere to sustain ourselves.”

In addition to the salary issue, they also requested the immediate issuance of  their staff IDs.

They noted that without these IDs, they are unable to be properly recognized on the payroll system, further hindering their ability to receive their due compensation.

The letter concluded with a plea to the Director General for swift action to resolve these urgent matters, ensuring that the newly recruited teachers are adequately supported in their important role within the education system.
