According to Professor Edward Appiah, the Director-General of NaCCA, these changes will affect students pursuing General Arts, Business, Home Economics, and Visual Arts.
In a discussion with the Daily Graphic, he also revealed that starting from 2024/2025 academic year, SHS science students will no longer be required to study Core and Elective Mathematics as separate examinable subjects.

Instead, for Core Mathematics, science students will now take Additional Mathematics and will no longer study Integrated Science.
The reasoning behind this decision is such students already study Pure Science.
In response to rumors that the subjects for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be reduced to five, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has urged the public, especially Junior High School students, to disregard such claims.

An anonymous official from the GES stated that no decision has been made to reduce the number of subjects for the 2024 BECE from the usual nine to five.
This clarification comes after Prince Charles Agyemang-Duah, the Director of the Schools and Instructions Division at GES, mentioned in an interview that 2024 BECE candidates would only sit for five subjects in the national examination.
