The Ministry of Education has issued a press release refuting reports circulating in some media outlets claiming that the teacher trainee allowance is to be scrapped.
The Ministry has described the reports as “sensational” and “misleading.”
In the statement, the Ministry categorically stated that the reports did not accurately reflect the Minister’s comments made during the meeting with Executives of the Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF).
The Ministry clarified that the Minister had explained that the Government is open to exploring ways to augment the financial needs of students in Colleges of Education.
This included the potential for an enhanced loan scheme for students in this category.

The Ministry has urged media outlets to correct the “wrong impression created” by the initial reports and to give the Ministry’s clarification appropriate attention.
The Ministry also encouraged media outlets to verify information with them directly to avoid causing unnecessary concern among stakeholders.
