To enhance technical and vocational education and training in the country, some Colleges of Education have incorporated TVET programmes into their Junior High School specialism.

The following is a list of colleges that run TVET as part of their offerings:

  • Mampong Technical College of Education, Mampong-Ashanti
  • Ada College of Education, Ada
  • Akatsi College of Education, Akatsi
  • Bagabaga College of Education, Tamale
  • N.J. Ahamadiyya College of Education, Wa
  • St. John Bosco’s College of Education, Navrongo
  • Wiawso College of Education, Wiawso
  • Komenda College of Education, Komenda

Admission Requirements

Prospective students looking to pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at these colleges must meet the following criteria:

TVET Certificate II Examinations:

Applicants should have obtained a Lower Credit (C-) or better in six (6) subjects, consisting of three (3) core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies) and three (3) relevant Elective Subjects.

Trade Area Certificates:

Possession of Certificate II in three (3) relevant trade areas from authorized bodies like the Technical Examinations Unit (TEU), National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), City & Guilds, or other recognized awarding bodies.

NABPTEX Certificate II can also be considered in place of passes in English and Mathematics.

NABPTEX Certificate II:

Candidates should hold NABPTEX certificate II in relevant trade areas alongside three (3) credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects, including English and Mathematics.

National Certificate II in CBT:

A qualification in Competency Based Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area awarded by the TEU on the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF) is also required for admission.
