Komenda College Practice Basic School has held an awards day and a send-off service for the 2023 mentees. The event was scheduled to coincide with the school’s vacation for the second term, 15th June 2023.
The purpose of the ceremony was to recognize the excellent performance of learners in their respective classes and to appreciate those who demonstrated exceptional behavior such as hard work, punctuality, and discipline.
These commendable learners were honored with certificates and various materials to serve as a motivation for others to strive for excellence too.
As stated earlier, not only were learners recognized for their academic performance, but also for their good behaviour. Some students were awarded for being hard-working, punctual, and disciplined. The aim was to encourage these positive attitudes in the school and to build a better community.
The headteacher, Papa Kwamina Sam, during his address, applauded the students, teachers, mentees, parents, and other stakeholders who are supporting the school in their small ways. Stating that the event was a way to show gratitude and motivate everyone, especially the learners to strive for excellence.
Papa Sam also encouraged the students who received awards to keep up the good work and strive for more. He reminded them that with continuous hard work, they could achieve anything they set their minds to.
He also took the opportunity to encourage all the learners present to take inspiration from what they have witnessed and work hard to receive recognition in the next term.
The Parent Association Chairman, Mr. Ezekiel Annan, also expressed joy at the success of the program. He encouraged parents to continue supporting the school with the little they can for such events to continually take place.
Aside from the formal awards ceremony, it was exciting to watch the students display their skills through poem recitals, choreography, and other performances.
The event was also a time for merry-making and the presentation of gifts to the outgoing mentees.
