The Management of Komenda College of Education has refunded the full component of the 2022/2023 First Semester Feeding Grant to their final-year students.
This decision comes in response to a directive issued by the National Secretariat of PRINCOF on 18th August, 2023.
The directive from PRINCOF instructed all Principals in the 46 Public Colleges of Education to refund the feeding grant to the final year students who were on mandatory macro teaching (teaching practice) during the first semester of the 2022/2023 academic year.

This was because the final-year students were not provided with meals by the college during the period, and it was deemed necessary for the colleges to reimburse them accordingly.
According to the guidelines set forth by PRINCOF, each trainee is entitled to receive an amount of GH¢ 840.00 as a refund.
This calculation was based on the approved academic calendar, which consisted of 12 weeks.
Multiplying the number of weeks by the number of days in a week (12 weeks x 7 days = 84 days) and then multiplying it by the daily feeding grant amount of GH¢ 10.00, the total refund amount was determined to be GH¢ 840.00.

It is important to note that some trainees may not receive the full refund amount due to the number of days they spent on orientation for their macro teaching and examinations if they were provided with meals by the college during the period.
However, the Management of Komenda College of Education upon carefully considering and analysing the situation has refunded the full amount to their trainees(Level 400s).
As a result, each final student in the college has been credited with the full refund amount of GH¢ 840.00. This means students owing the school will have a reduction in their arrears(Arrears-GHC840.00), and verse versa.
