Komenda College of Education has received a significant donation of forty-one (41) computers from Mr. Abdul Rashid Baako, a close friend of the Very Reverend Professor Kwesi Nkum Wilson, the principal of the college.
During his speech, Very Reverend Professor Kwesi Nkum Wilson acknowledged the longstanding friendship between himself and Mr. Baako, which began during their primary school years and has continued throughout their tertiary education.
However, in 2019, when he learned of Professor Wilson’s appointment as principal of Komenda College, Mr. Baako began inquiring about ways to support the institution.
The principal revealed that in 2021, Mr. Baako presented the college with two (2) servers which are currently being used for the college’s Wi-Fi and other networking activities.
“He has continued to support the college. In 2021, he gave us two servers for our network services. I was truly shocked when he called again to tell me he had 41 computers for the college, which would be ready in Ghana. Therefore, I should expect a call from someone confirming their arrival,” he noted.

The principal further stated that the donated computers would be used to improve the ICT Unit and support teaching and learning at the college.
He added that other offices within the college that require computers would also receive some to enhance their work.
Professor Wilson also promised that as part of their corporate responsibility, five (5) of the computers would be donated to selected basic schools within the K.E.E.A, including the Komenda Police Service.
Presenting the computers to the college, Mr. Abdul Rashid Baako noted that he has a special connection with the college as his father was once a tutor there, striving to do his best with limited resources. He added that he would continue to support the college.
“My dad was here trying his best with nothing in those days, and so I have a heart for Komenda College, and I will continue to do my best to support the college.”
He added that he would try his best to have his company in the United State adopt the College in the best way possible.

“I will ask my company to see how best we can adopt Komenda College,” he stated.
Receiving the computers, Reverend Professor Kwesi Nkum Wilson expressed his gratitude to Mr. Abdul Rashid Baako. He revealed that when he was appointed principal of the college in 2019, the college had only about 10 computers.
However, he was pleased that since his arrival, the situation has improved significantly, with the addition of approximately 130 computers.
“We had around 10 computers when I came here in 2019. I am glad to say that we have added about 130 to that number. So we have added much, and we want to make the college excel in the area of ICT – a college of choice,” he added.
He assured Mr. Abdul Rashid Baako that the college would take good care of the donated computers.

He also called on the ICT students to ensure that the computers are well-maintained to ensure their longevity.
“We want to assure you that we will take good care of the machines. We will also continue to pray for you for God to continue blessing you.”
Commissioning the computers, the Bishop of the Methodist Church for the Cape Coast Diocese and the Council Chair of the college, Right Reverend Richardson Aboagye Andam, after thanking Mr. Abdul Rashid Baako for the donation, commended the principal for his continued efforts toward the development of the college.

He added that under his administration, the college is doing well and has managed to procure a principal’s duty car, refurbished the home economics block and the ICT Lab, solved the long-standing issue of inadequate tables and chairs for the college, and above all, has started building staff bungalows which will be ready for use next year.
“May God continue to bless you and your management members for the good work you are doing for the college,” he concluded.
