The Management of Komenda College of Education has commenced the construction of an 8-Unit Staff Bungalow to address staff accommodation deficit.
The sod-cutting ceremony, held on Monday, April 22, 2024, was presided over by the Principal, Very Reverend Professor Kwesi Nkum Wilson, and the Bishop of the Methodist Church for the Cape Coast Diocese and the Council Chair, Right Reverend Richardson Aboagye Andam.
Speaking at the event, the Principal Very Reverend Professor Kwesi Nkum Wilson highlighted the college’s rapid growth and the pressing need for staff accommodation.
“Komenda college of education is growing and we have a serious deficit on staff accommodation-teaching and non-teaching staff,” he noted.
He explained that as part of the college’s 5-year strategic plan is staff accommodation deficit which they have to resolve, and they have been working tirelessly for the past two years to make it a reality.
Finally, they have managed to gather the necessary resources and partnership to commence the project.
“…with the prompting of the council, the management set up to draw up our strategic plan, which includes addressing the issue of infrastructure deficit. For the past two years, we have been brainstorming and planning how to solve this problem,” he revealed.

The college has partnered with Tin-AN Constructions to execute the project. The construction of the first eight (8)-Unit out of the six(6) planned staff bungalows is already underway, with the remaining to follow.
The project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will be funded through the college’s Internally Generated Fund.
According to Principal, students enrolled in the technical programmes and others who will show interest will also be involved in the construction work to gain practical experience and little incomes.
In his address, Right Reverend Richardson Aboagye Andam expressed gratitude to the management of the college for their support in continuously improving and advancing the college.
He pledged the ongoing support of the Governing Council for the betterment of the institution.
Right Reverend Andam also offered prayers for the success of the project and requested God’s guidance and protection for the workers as they commence their tasks.

Speaking to the Site Engineer of Tin-AN Constructions, Mr. Mandela Osei, he stated that they are poised to ensure that the work is completed as expected within the specified timeframe in order to help the college resolve its accommodation issues.
He also mentioned that the necessary resources have been made available to them and they are ready to deliver a flawless job for the college.
Mr. Osei concluded by expressing gratitude to the college’s management for their warm reception and support.
With construction already underway, the completion of the Eight-Unit Staff Bungalow within the next 18 months is expected to alleviate the current staff accommodation deficit at the college.
