KNUST Revised Second Semester Academic Calendar for Affiliated Colleges

The Faculty of Educational Studies (FES) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has officially announced the resumption of academic work for all affiliated colleges of education, effective Monday, August 26, 2024.

To accommodate the disruption caused by the recent industrial action by CETAG, the following adjustments to the academic calendar have been implemented:

• August 26, 2024 – October 5, 2024: Resumption of lectures (6 weeks).

• October 7, 2024 – October 11, 2024: End-of-semester exams (1 week).

• October 12, 2024 – November 3, 2024: Semester break (3 weeks).

To accommodate the extended semester:

• The second semester has been extended by 4 weeks, totaling 6 weeks of lectures.

• An extended teaching timetable will be implemented to make up for lost time by the colleges.

This will include:

  • Starting daily lectures earlier.
  • Holding evening lectures.
  • Some lectures will be held on Saturdays and Sundays.

2024/2025 Academic Year

• November 4, 2024 – December 21, 2024: Phase One of the First Semester, 2024/2025 Academic Year (7 weeks).

• December 22, 2024 – January 5, 2025: Christmas break (3 weeks).

• January 6, 2025 – ???: Phase Two of the First Semester, 2024/2025 Academic Year (7 weeks remaining).

The FES has also urged all affiliated college principals to inform their students of these directives and to facilitate a smooth resumption of academic activities.
