Madam Fuseina Fuseini, a Kindergarten teacher at the Madina SDA Basic School in Accra, has been named the winner of the 2024 Ghana Teacher Prize (GTP).
The award, presented by the National Teaching Council (NTC), recognizes the most outstanding teacher in the country.
The 47-year-old teacher was chosen for her exceptional contributions to education, demonstrating a commitment to innovative teaching methods and positive learning outcomes.
“I want to encourage all teachers across the country to also put in their best by adopting innovative ways of improving teaching and learning outcomes,” said Madam Fuseini.

The ceremony, held in Kumasi on October 5, 2024, under the theme “Valuing Teacher Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,” was attended by dignitaries including the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
The Minister expressed appreciation for the vital role of teachers in national development and assured them that their concerns regarding conditions of service are being addressed.
“Tier 2 issues are being thoroughly discussed and will be resolved soon. The welfare of the teacher is dear to the government and efforts are being done to improve it,” the Minister stated.

This year’s GTP ceremony, hosted by the Ashanti Region, was preceded by a visit from the NTC Registrar and his team to engage with stakeholders and ensure a successful event.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, expressed full support for the event and assured the NTC of the Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to a memorable ceremony.
