The Institute for Teacher Education and Continuous Professional Development (ITECPD), has made significant changes regarding how Supported Teaching in Schools is to be carried out in the affiliated colleges of education.
These changes are aimed at improving the quality of training that student trainees receive in the colleges of education.
As per the new regulations set by the institute, any student who has not fulfilled the STS demands of a particular semester will not be allowed to proceed with their academic activities in the next semester.

Instead, the student would have to wait and ensure that they have met the demands of the STS of the current semester before proceeding to the next academic session.
Furthermore, it has also been stated that Level 300 students who are about to commence their six (6) weeks of micro-teaching must take it seriously.
Failure to participate fully in the micro-teaching programme would lead to the student’s inability to proceed to the next semester.
It is essential for all trainees to understand the need and importance of the STS programme and get themselves fully acquainted with it.
The STS programme is aimed at providing trainees with the practical and hands-on experience necessary for their future careers as teachers.
The institute believes that with the implementation of these new changes, student trainees would have a more comprehensive and robust educational experience and be better equipped to take on the challenges that come with their chosen professions.

It is, therefore, in the best interest of the students to take these regulations very seriously and to ensure that they meet all the required demands of their respective semesters.
This would go a long way in ensuring their academic success and their future careers as successful teachers.
