The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has released a list of unaccredited study centres being used by the University of Cape Coast (UCC), University for Development Studies (UDS), and University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to offer academic programmes.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 3, GTEC warned that “applicants who pursue programmes at these CENTRES do so at their own risk.
“The commission emphasized that academic credentials obtained at these unaccredited centres will not be recognized by GTEC”.

The list reveals a staggering number of unaccredited centres: 91 used by UCC, 21 by UDS, and 48 by UEW.
The list includes various institutions, from Basic schools and colleges to senior high schools, spread across different regions in Ghana.
GTEC has urged parents, guardians, and prospective students to avoid enrolling in programmes offered at these centres.

The commission further warned that it will not recognize academic credentials earned at these locations for the 2024/2025 academic year.
