The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has directed the Principal of Enchi College of Education to hand over administrative duties following his attainment of the mandatory retirement age.
In a letter dated January 13, 2025, GTEC announced the retirement of the Principal and the appointment of the college’s Vice Principal as the acting Principal.
According to the letter, addressed to the Principal and signed by Director-General Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, records at GTEC indicate that the Principal reached the compulsory retirement age of 60 years on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
“Records at the Ghana Tertiary Education (GTEC) indicate that you have attained the compulsory retirement age of 60 years on Saturday, January 11, 2025,” the letter reads.
As a result of this, GTEC has directed the Principal to hand over the administration of the college to Dr. Emmanuel Adom Ashun, the current Vice Principal, effective Monday, January 13, 2025.

The directive also stated that Dr. Ashun is appointed to serve as the acting Principal of the College with immediate effect.
The letter further requested that Enchi College of Education commence the process towards the appointment of a substantive Principal.
“…the College is requested to commence processes towards the appointment of a substantive Principal for the College,” GTEC stated.
The official correspondence acknowledged the outgoing Principal’s service to the college, with the concluding paragraph stating, “The Commission takes this opportunity to thank you for your dedicated service to the College.”
