The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has agreed to pay GH¢100,000 to the Professional Association of Psychiatric Nurses of Ghana (PAPNG) by March 28, 2025, settling a lawsuit out of court.
The agreement, adopted by the Labour Division of the High Court in Accra on January 20, 2025, resolves a dispute over alleged sabotage of PAPNG’s operations.
PAPNG had filed a lawsuit claiming that the GRNMA engaged in a “persistent series of conduct” designed to undermine their activities, including obstructing their certification and onboarding processes.

The psychiatric nurses association also alleged that GRNMA violated statutory provisions requiring consultation and participation from other unions.
In the original suit, PAPNG sought a declaration that a collective agreement negotiated by GRNMA on their behalf was null and void.
They also requested GH¢1 million in damages for the alleged violation of their economic rights under the 1992 Constitution.
Instead of proceeding with litigation, both parties opted for an out-of-court settlement. According to the terms of the settlement, the GRNMA will make the GH¢100,000 payment to PAPNG “as a gesture of goodwill and good faith” to conclusively resolve the suit.
