The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has announced the resolution of the long-standing issue regarding the migration of Colleges of Education teachers (CETAG) onto the public universities’ grade structure.

The announcement comes amidst an ongoing industrial action by CETAG, aimed at addressing their concerns about fair compensation and working conditions.

In a press release issued on 27th January, 2025, the FWSC stated that a government-constituted Migration Committee, established on August 29, 2024, with representatives from various key government bodies, worked diligently to address the concerns of CETAG.

The committee included members from the FWSC, Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Ministry of Finance (MOF), Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD), Ministry of Education (MOE), and the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF).

“We are pleased to announce that the outstanding issue of migrating the staff of the Colleges of Education onto the University grades structure has been resolved,” the FWSC declared in the statement.

The FWSC commended GTEC, MOF, CAGD, MOE, and PRINCOF for their collaborative efforts in addressing CETAG’s concerns.

“We would like to use this opportunity to commend GTEC, Ministry of Finance (MOF), Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD), Ministry of Education (MOE), and PRINCOF for working tirelessly to ensure the concerns of CETAG are addressed,” the statement read.

The FWSC emphasized the importance of collaboration and open communication in resolving any potential future issues, saying,

“We believe that a harmonious and collaborative approach is essential in addressing the concerns of CETAG and ensuring the smooth operation of the Colleges of Education. We remain open to dialogue and look forward to working with CETAG to find mutually beneficial solutions.”
