Government Absorbs Savannah College of Education as Public Institution

The Government of Ghana, through the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), has officially absorbed the Savannah College of Education in Daboya as a public institution, bringing the total number of public colleges of education in the country to 47.

In a letter dated October 21, 2024, signed by GTEC’s Director-General, Professor Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, the absorption decision followed an inspection of the college’s infrastructure and recommendations from the Commission’s team.

According to the Commission, the Minister of Education approved the absorption, confirming that the college had met all necessary requirements.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the government to fully take over the college was signed on October 28, 2024. The College is now affiliated to the University of Education, Winneba

With this new status, teacher trainees at the Savannah College of Education will now enjoy the same benefits as their peers in the other 46 public colleges across Ghana.

Here’s how to apply:

1. Visit the official SCE website: https://savcoe.edu.gh/

2. Purchase an e-voucher: Secure your application by purchasing an e-voucher for GHS 205.

3. Log in to the portal: Use the PIN and serial number from your e-voucher to access the online application portal.

4. Complete the application: Fill in your personal information accurately and upload required documents, including your birth certificate and WASSCE results.

5. Submit your application: Once all information is complete, submit your application.

6. Print your slip: Save your application slip for future reference.
