GNAT-KEEA Municipal Meets Final Year Students of Komenda College of Education

On Friday, 14th October 2022, The KEEA Municipal Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT held an intensive orientation for the final year trainees of Komenda college of education.

The association established in 1960 is a well-known Association of teachers in pre-tertiary schools and institutions in Ghana.

The GNAT team from the KEEA Municipal was warmly welcomed by the Vice Principal of the college, Mr. Theoplius Kweku Bassaw.

As a proud Member of the Association, Mr. Theophius Kweku Bassaw made it known he has never regretted joining.

He, therefore asked the Students to open up to the education the team has arrived to render them.

Miss Patience Mensa Apeku, The District GNAT chairperson lauded the Management of the college for their wonderful reception. She also congratulated the final-year students for fighting a good fight and clinging to the goal of finishing their bachelor program.

Miss Patience Mansa Apeku stated the purpose of the gathering and asked for the alliance of the students.

In his presentation, The Regional GNAT secretary, Abdulai Baba Yuif positioned the association live to unite members and present a unified front to advise the government in education policy formulation and implementation.

He professed the association is the only teacher union that truly represents teachers across the whole of Ghana at all levels in the pre-tertiary education sector.

Adding that, the association will continue to cherish its members and value their loyalty to the Association.

Outlining the benefits and services rendered by the association to its members, Abdulai Baba Yusif called on the student body to tie up with the association as the association is very trustworthy.

“I will urge you to join GNAT as we are very supportive and trustworthy. We are always behind our members through every situation and we ensure our members are safe and secure. The welfare of our members is always paramount to us.”, Abdul Baba Yusif expressed.

The Deputy Regional Secretary, Salifu Abdul Aziz also admonished the students to ensure they abide by the codes of conduct enshrined for the profession.

He added that is the only avenue to evade trouble in the profession.

“Cases of misconduct in our region are alarming and I want you to know, you can avoid them by practicing what’s outlined in the code of conduct and ethics handbook. I will urge you to get copies and read them. Get abreast with them before you move to the field “, Abdul Aziz asserted.

Students were given the chance to ask questions and seek clarification.

The Moderator for the event, Henry Amartey, The Education Administration Representative systematically ensured all questions were answered with the best of clarity.
