Ghana celebrates a remarkable achievement as three outstanding Senior High School graduates clinch the top three awards at the just-ended 2023 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) International Excellence Awards.

The ceremony, held during the 72nd Annual Council Meeting in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on Tuesday, 19th March 2024, marks a significant history for Ghana’s educational landscape.

The recipients of these coveted awards are as follows:

  1. Amo-Kodieh Leonard Kofi Marton from St James Seminary Senior High School, who was crowned the Overall Best Student.
  2. Dzandu Selorm from Labone Senior High School, who clinched second place.
  3. Daniel Asenso-Gyambibi, also from St James Seminary Senior High School, who secured third place.

The International Excellence Awards for WASCCE for School Candidates aims to applaud the highest level of academic achievement, recognizing the top-performing candidates across member countries that participate in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

These member countries include Gambia, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Ghana.

The Ministry of Education has conveyed their heartfelt congratulations to Leonard, Selorm, and Daniel for their remarkable accomplishments.
