The Ghana Education Service (GES) is seeking qualified and dedicated teachers to serve as full-time school-based counselors in secondary schools across the country.
This initiative is part of the GES’s newly implemented Guidance and Counseling Framework, aimed at providing comprehensive support to learners.
The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator with strong guidance skills, interpersonal qualities, and a commitment to student well-being.

Responsibilities of School-Based Counselors include:
• Providing individual and group counseling sessions
• Developing and implementing school-based counseling programs
• Collaborating with teachers and parents to support student well-being
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards
• Documenting and keeping records safe
• Supporting victims in making formal reports where required
• Guiding learners in subject selection and career path development
• Providing academic and tertiary guidance services
• Ensuring the implementation of Safe School interventions
• Providing psychological support to the school community
• Conducting Psychometric Assessments and referrals as needed

Qualifications and Experience:
• A serving GES teaching staff with a degree majoring in Guidance and Counseling or Psychology, and a second subject taught in Senior High Schools.
• A Master’s degree in Counseling or a related field is an advantage.
• Relevant experience in school counseling.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
