The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 academic year for all Basic and Second Cycle Schools in the country.
The academic year for the SHS is set to commence on Wednesday, 30th October, 2024.
According to the GES, current first year students in Transitional Calendar schools will conclude their 2023/2024 academic year on Monday, 28th October, 2024 and will be promoted to Form two (2) to continue with the new academic year without any break.
Incoming first year students for Single Track and Transitional Schools are also expected to begin school on Wednesday, 30th October, 2024.

Continuing students in Single Track Schools will also resume classes on the same date.
According to the GES, the new calendar aims to ensure a smooth transition back to a September start in future years, allowing students to write their 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in May/June 2025.
