The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the academic calendar for the 2024-2025 school year.
The calendar provides important dates for students, parents, and teachers to plan their schedules accordingly.
First Term
Term 1 will begin on September 10, 2024, and will run for 15 weeks. There will be no mid-term break during this term.
However, students and teachers will have the opportunity to observe public holidays such as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day on September 21, 2024.

Additionally, special events like World Teachers Day on October 5, 2024, and World Children’s Day on November 20, 2024, will be celebrated.
The end-of-term vacation will start on December 20, 2024, and continue until January 7, 2025.
Second Term
Term 2 is scheduled to start on January 8, 2025, and will also run for 15 weeks. Similar to Term 1, there will be no mid-term break.
However, students and teachers will observe public holidays such as Good Friday on April 18, 2025, and Easter Monday on April 21, 2025.
Additionally, the March Independence Celebration will take place on March 6-7, 2025.

The end-of-term vacation will start on April 17, 2025, followed by a break period from April 18, 2025, to May 5, 2025.
Third Term
Term 3 will commence on May 6, 2025, lasting for 12 weeks. Again, there will be no mid-term break during this term.
Public holidays such as 1st May (2025), African Union Day on May 25, 2025, and Eid-ul Adha on June 7, 2025, will be observed.

The end-of-term vacation will start on July 24, 2025, and continue for 32 days until September 7, 2025.
After the end of the vacation period, the new academic year will begin on September 8, 2025, marking the start of the first term of the 2025-2026 academic year.
