GES Addresses Concerns of Unemployed Trained Teachers

The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has held a meeting with the Coalition of Unemployed Trained Teachers (CUTT).

The meeting held on 22nd March, 2024 was to discuss the way forward regarding the recruitment of these newly trained teachers.

The Director General, Dr. Eric Nkansah, acknowledged the plight of these unemployed teachers and declared that their situation is a top priority for both GES and the government.

He emphasized the significant investment made by the government in their training and acknowledged that both the government and GES are equally affected when trained teachers are left without placements.

The Director revealed that they have completed preparations for the recruitment of newly trained teachers, pending financial clearance from the government.

The Human Resource Department of GES has also been tasked with the responsibility of posting the newly trained teachers once the necessary funds are secured.

The Director General refuted rumors surrounding teacher recruitment in September and stressed the immediate need for teachers in vacant classrooms.

Additionally, the Director General dispelled rumors about recruiting trained teachers together with the resit group.

When pressed for a specific date for the recruitment, the Director General assured CUTT members and the public that an official announcement will be made in April 2024.
