The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has disclosed that funds have been approved by the government for the payment of teacher trainees’ allowances as soon as possible.
This development comes amid the ongoing industrial action by the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG).
In a recent press release issued by the TTAG National Secretariat, it was revealed that the Book and Research Allowances for CETAG members was disbursed on July 25, 2024, upon confirmation from the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).

Furthermore, the TTAG disclosed that the Honorable Minister for Education has assured the association’s leadership that CETAG members with MPhil qualifications will be migrated to the position of Assistant Lecturers, similar to their colleagues in the traditional universities.
This migration is said to be done in accordance with the terms and conditions set by the affiliate universities of the respective colleges.
Additionally, TTAG revealed that PRINCOF (National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education) has been directed to collaborate with affiliate universities to reschedule examination dates and timelines, accommodating the effects of the strike.

The TTAG also acknowledged that the strike has negatively impacted the academic calendar and expressed gratitude that the Honorable Minister of Education is willing to engage in continuous negotiations with CETAG to bring an end to the industrial action.
The leadership concluded by urging all teacher trainees to remain focused on their academic work and strive for professional excellence.
