The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana, TTAG under the leadership of Jonathan Dzunu has issued a missive Updating trainees about the arrangements for the conduct of levels 200 and 300 mid and end-of-semester examinations.
In the release signed by the President, Jonathan Dzunu, and the General Secretary, Musah Sumaila, trainees are urged to boycott any attempt made by any mentoring university to conduct an examination for them amid the ongoing brouhaha in the colleges.
The association also called on the Ministry of Education, GTEC, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, PRINCOF, and all other bodies to expedite measures in addressing the concerns of CETAG so that academic work can resume as soon as possible.
The missive reads;
Following our early release in the day on the above subject matter, we wish to unequivocally state that our concerns have had the maximum attention of the stakeholders.
We made indications that;
- Trainees have been affected by the CETAG industrial strike action and in effect, have lost 5 weeks of contact hours with their tutors both in the first and second phases of the semester
- Tutors were not able to cover most topics of their course outlines before the effectiveness of the CETAG strike action nor have they been able to award scores for Continuous Assessment.
Consequently, we have taken due cognizance of the communiqués issued by the University of Education and the University for Development Studies indicating the suspension of the mid and end-of-semester
examinations respectively.
We believe that the mentoring universities suspended their quizzes and exams for the above reasons considering the good interest of the student teachers.
We wish to state that, we await the release of the remaining mentoring universities on the same subject.

In conclusion, the National Executive Council has resolved that all student teachers should decline decisions on the effectiveness of both mid-semester quizzes and end-of-semester examinations until further notice.
We also call on the Ministry of Education, GTEC, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, PRINCOF, and all other bodies to expedite measures in addressing the concerns of CETAG so that academic work can resume as soon as possible.
