Information reaching Coleman Publications reveals that the government has yet to sign the agreement made with the College of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) last Wednesday.
This agreement pertains to the timeframe for implementing CETAG’s conditions of service as awarded by the National Labour Commission (NLC).
Sources within CETAG have confirmed that they are still awaiting the signed document from the government.

CETAG has also indicated that, even upon receiving the document, it will need to be reviewed and approved at their Council meeting before any decision to call off the strike can be made.
Some members of CETAG we spoke with expressed their willingness to end the strike if the government fulfills its obligations.

“Until then,” one member posited, “we are not prepared to call off our strike anytime soon.”
Furthermore, sources have revealed that CETAG members have been instructed not to participate in any activities related to the Students Representative Council (SRC) Week celebrations in their respective schools, as all their services have been withdrawn.

On July 24, 2024, CETAG’s leadership met with the government in an attempt to find a lasting solution to the ongoing industrial action. Both parties expressed optimism after the meeting, citing significant progress.
Following the meeting, CETAG announced their plans to convene a National Council meeting on July 25, 2024, to finalize the agreements made with the government.

However, on July 26, 2024, CETAG reported that they were unable to hold their National Council meeting due to the absence of the signed Memorandum of Agreement document from the government.
