The Central Tongu District Education Directorate has issued a stern warning to all teachers in the district, prohibiting the use of pre-prepared learner plans provided by external sources.
The directive comes after concerns were raised regarding the negative impact this practice has on educational quality and professional integrity.
In a letter sighted by Coleman Publications, the Directorate emphasized that lesson planning is a critical aspect of teaching that allows educators to tailor their approaches to the individual needs of their learners.
The use of pre-made plans, it argued, undermines this personalized teaching strategy and compromises the overall educational experience for learners.
“The preparation of learner plans is a core responsibility of every teacher, allowing them to tailor their instructional approaches to the specific needs and abilities of their learners. Reliance on pre-prepared plans compromises this process and detracts from the quality of education we strive to uphold in our district,” the statement read.

The letter, signed by the District Director, Tsifokor, instructs all teachers to immediately discontinue the practice of using externally sourced lesson plans.
Headteachers are also urged to ensure strict adherence to the directive by reviewing and monitoring the lesson preparation practices within their schools.
The Directorate further warned that any individual or group found distributing such pre-prepared plans would be subject to legal and disciplinary action.
Additionally, teachers have been encouraged to seek support from the District’s Training Team and School Improvement Support Officers to enhance their lesson planning skills.
“The Central Tongu District Education Directorate remains committed to supporting teachers in their professional growth. Teachers are encouraged to seek guidance from the District Training Team and their respective School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) to enhance their lesson preparation skills.”

The Directorate urged all stakeholders to work together to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ensure the best outcomes for learners in the district.
The directive has been communicated to all headteachers of public basic schools and School Improvement Support Officers within the Central Tongu District.
