The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) was last week plunged into mourning following a devastating incident that claimed the life of a third-year Mathematics student, Mr. Prosper Owusu.
The incident according to reports occurred during a fire ritual he was performing with some students at the Opoku Ware II Hall on Friday, August 25, 2023.

Mr. Owusu, who was referred to as the “chief priest” responsible for conducting such traditional rites at Opoku Ware Hall, was at the centre of the incident.
The accident occurred during the activities, severely injuring him.
He was immediately rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Disturbing videos on social media show he was engulfed in flames running across the campus while bystanders attempted to extinguish the fire.

The university’s management has launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident within the Hall.
In response to this heartbreaking event, the university administration has issued a stern warning to all students, urging them to exercise caution and avoid participating in activities that may expose them to risks and potential consequences.
