Dr. Bawumia speaks on the payment of trainees’ allowances


The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced that the outstanding nursing trainee allowances for 2024 will be released next week.

The announcement was made during a meeting with youth in Nalerigu, North East Region.

Dr. Bawumia revealed that the Minister of Finance had confirmed the release of GHC 177 million to the Ministry of Health, which will then be disbursed to the nursing trainees.

“So I believe that, in shaa Allah, by next week, all of you should be receiving the nursing trainee allowances, and they will be in your accounts,” Dr. Bawumia said.

The announcement was met with jubilation from the nurses in attendance, who chanted Dr. Bawumia’s name in appreciation.

The release of the allowances has been long-awaited by thousands of nursing trainees who have been facing financial difficulties due to the delay.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the NPP’s commitment to supporting the youth and education, reminding the trainees that the party had also restored teacher trainee allowances.

He urged the trainees to anticipate the release of their allowances next week.
