The Leadership disclosed that, if prudent measures are not put in place, food shortages is likely to hit colleges of Education across the country.
Mr. Jonathan Dzunu asserted that, the food shortage is due to government inability to pay trainees allowances early.
“in as much as the government reinstated the teacher trainee’s allowances, the overdue delay in payment is causing a huge challenge to the trainees”, he stated.
Meanwhile, the Principals of the colleges of education in the country indicated that suppliers are not willing to supply them with adequate food items due to their inability to pay them.
However, as a way of mitigating the situation at hand, some colleges have reduced the quantity of food trainees are to take whiles others have replaced their menus with meals which are “affordable” looking at the resources at their disposal.
