There are Forty-Six (46) Public Colleges of Education spread across the country, each dedicated to shaping the next generation of teachers.

These colleges are affiliated to public universities to ensure quality training for aspiring teachers.

Notably, six (6) of these colleges are affiliated to the esteemed University For Development Studies (UDS) located in Tamale.

It is important to note that upon completing a programme of study at any of the colleges above, students will be awarded certificates from the University For Development Studies (UDS), Tamale

Admission Requirements

To gain admission into any of the colleges listed above, prospective students must meet specific academic criteria based on their educational backgrounds:

  • Applicants with WASSCE results should possess Credit passes (A1-C6) in three (3) CORE subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, and credit passes in three (3) relevant Elective subjects.
  • SSSCE applicants are required to have credit passes (A-D) in three (3) CORE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, along with credit passes in three (3) relevant Elective subjects.
  • Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) applicants must hold a TVET Certificate II with a Lower Credit (C-) or better in six (6) subjects, comprising three core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three relevant Elective subjects.
