The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has reiterated its demand for the immediate implementation of the National Labour Commission’s (NLC) Compulsory Arbitration Awards by the employer.
This comes after a press conference held on April 22nd, 2024, where the issue was first raised.
CETAG, in a press statement issued on 6th May, 2024, expressed its disappointment that the employer had failed to honor the awards issued on May 2nd, 2023, despite a subsequent directive issued on August 31st, 2023.

The association highlighted that the employer’s continued disregard for the NLC’s orders was unacceptable.
According to CETAG, following a meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and representatives of PRINCOF on May 2, 2024, it was established that:
- GTEC and FWSC have no immediate plans to pay the one-month salary compensation for additional duties performed in 2022.
- GTEC intends to set aside the NLC award on extending allowances and remuneration rates from public universities to CETAG members.
- GTEC and FWSC have no plans to pay arrears of GH¢1,064 for research allowances.
- Employer continues to withhold salaries of CETAG National President and members without justification.
